GI Revolts

$5.00

“GI Revolts” is a selection of excerpts from Richard Boyle during his time as a journalist in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Through anecdotes and interviews this text exposes a central component of why US Imperialism was defeated in Vietnam: namely the internal contradictions inside the US military. These contradictions played out along the lines of Race and Class. Black Americans vs. their racist white commanding officers and “grunts” vs. the “lifers”; the conscripted men against their officers. In the words of one GI: ‘We’re not mad just because of this, though; we’re generally mad.’
